The Yeomen of the Guard

“Valecti Garde Domini Regina”
“For Queen and Country!”
When Henry Tudor, the Second Earl of Richmond, faced down the Yorkist King of England, Richard III, at Bosworth Field, he gathered a group of loyal soldiers to be his bodyguard. Following his victory and coronation, Henry Tudor named this bodyguard the Yeomen of the Guard. His victory at Bosworth Field and later marriage to Elizabeth of York united England, ended the Wars of the Roses, and began the history of the longest still-standing military unit in the world.
We reenact this noble military unit at Renaissance fairs throughout California. Together with our ladies of the Queen’s household, we protect Her Majesty, Elizabeth Gloriana, and watch over her nobles, but we also seek mirth and merriment throughout
the lands of England, often subjecting unsuspecting women to a “wooing en masse”. Our suppers are notoriously entertaining and you can even find us, from time to time, engaged in song.

In these pages you will find our cast and crew.

Join us at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire

Irwindale, Weekends April 6 – May 19

Come see the revelry of sixteenth century England as Queen Elizabeth tours the English country-side with her nobles in tow, and of course, her Bodyguard of the Yeomen of the Guard. Her Majesty’s bodyguard will be out in force, wooing women, hunting spies, and generally looking dashing — someone has to. Keeping them on their feet are the ladies of Her Majesty’s Household, beauties in blue with fierce spirits.

The Renaissance Pleasure Faire runs weekends from April 6th to May 19th in Irwindale, California. Get directions and ticket information at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire website.
